Coronavirus cases in India has cross 11,400 count

Lockdown 2.0 begins in India from today. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 11,439 after 1076 fresh Covid-19 infections were reported in the past 24 hours,

According to the data from Health Ministry, mortalities from COVID-19 has reached to 377 in India. Maharashtra is the highest in the total count with 178 deaths. Almost, 1,305 patients have been cured of the coronavirus and discharged. Maharashtra is the worst affected state with 2,687 COVID-19 cases, along with Tamil Nadu (1,204), Telangana (624), Rajasthan (969), Madhya Pradesh (730) and Gujarat (650) the other worst affected states.

The government has stated that over 600 hospitals in the country have been reserved as dedicated COVID-19 facilities with a capacity of more than 1 lakh isolation beds and 12,024 intensive care unit beds. An upper official of Indian Council of Medical Research said that 2.31 lakh tests for coronavirus have been conducted up to now. Out of these 18,644 tests were performed in labs under ICMRs network whereas 2,991 tests were conducted at private labs.

According to the data from Johns Hopkins University, globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases is reaching 20 lakh cases and the death count has reached up to 1.26 lakh. The US is the worst affected country with more than 6 lakh cases and around 26,000 death toll.

Spain (1.74 lakh cases), Italy (1.62 lakh cases), Germany (1.32 lakh cases) and France (1.31 lakh cases) are also among the other worst affected countries.

The death count in Italy has reached to 21,067 whereas it has rose to 18,255 in Spain and 15,729 in France.
